Zelia and Ron have lived “off the grid” in Perry, Maine since 2001.  Being “off grid”, the land was less expensive.  We enjoy being independent of the local power company; and have not had an unplanned power outage since we moved in.

We generate our power from wind and photovoltaics.  When all else fails, we have a backup propane-fired generator.  But over 90% of our electricity comes from  renewable sources.
